- 'Glass Eels' works with my playing age of 17 - 23, because Lily is a teenager going through a confusing time and is confused with her sexuality
- I can relate to the piece, because Lily is in her teenage years and is going through a tough time, much like me. I can also relate to some of the themes raised, like the death of a family member and the effects of that.
- The emotional journey of the piece shows how Lily is remembering things about her mother at the start so she is a little happy and smily, then moved to upset, unsettled and tearful (I imagine), she is then very distressed and even more traumatised, then finally wishing she could get ride of her memories and feels regret. Therefore this monologue shows a lorge emotional range and this is why i chose it.
- Cirtain aspects like posture and the use of stillness help keep the piece moving. Some other aspects are; Use of imagination to create another character on stage, the clarity of my thoughts, how the tension changes during the piece through my vioce and physicality, the use of silence and holding the audiences attention during the pause, and how i physically use my voice and body, for example the use of breath to show distress or if i bring my knee's in closer to show the need for comfort and protection.
- My research helped me develop and create my character, Lily, by reading reviews on how she's played and about her relationships.
